SONS Bassist Leaves Band

Below is a statement from Jacob Bundren, about his departure from the band SONS.

It’s been a long, hard, faith-stretching ride, but it’s also been the most fulfilling ride I’ve ever been on. I’ve devoted the last three years of my life to a rock ‘n roll band called SONS and, unfortunately, it’s time for me to hang up my bass guitar. I’m not going to dive into reasoning because we’d be swimming for a long time. Internal and external factors weighed into this and have made it the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. I believe that every transition is bittersweet. The future has an excitingly mysterious draw to it, but it doesn’t make letting go much easier. All we can do is trust that God will continue to take care of us like He always has.

Over the course of the last three years, I’ve seen amazing transformations in the band, in my bandmates, and within my own heart. Using the gifts that God has given me, I’ve been able to travel the country and show love to people that have come to see a rock show. I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many amazing people that have blessed me in so many different ways and I couldn’t be more thankful for those opportunities.

Paul relates our faith to a marathon. I’ve heard the analogy a million times before and it really hasn’t settled in until now. The last three years of my life are just a leg in this marathon that we all run. The next chapter is beginning and, while I have no clue what it holds, I am excited for it. I’m excited to maintain the relationships I’ve built and I’m excited to form new ones with the people I’ve yet to encounter through music, touring, and everyday life.

I pray for blessing and wisdom for the remaining members of SONS as they continue their journey that has just begun. As a band, this is just the end of the beginning and many great things lay ahead for them.

As for me, I will continue playing music. I’m not sure to what capacity it will be, but I’m open to anything that God steers me toward. All I know is that I won’t take the gift I’ve been given for granted. Thank you all for an amazing and unforgettable three years.

I Am Empire Guitarist Leaves Band

Life moves, and it moves quickly. To quote Ferris Bueller,

“If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.”

Every day I wake up in disbelief at the realization that it has already been four years since I “stopped to look around” for the first time in my life. I Am Empire has been a great adventure and it will remain a part of me for the rest of my life.

Sadly, as life goes on, all things must end. It is time for my life to move forward and put the band in my past. I owe more gratitude to people that have supported me in the last four years than I can even give out. So many people have blessed me and this band in ways I could never even fathom, I thank every one of you from my soul. I hope you know your kindness has never gone unnoticed or unappreciated by me or any of the other guys. I have met so many wonderful people and seen so many amazing places. I thank God for handing me such an incredible opportunity. I only ever dreamed of being in a Tooth and Nail band and for the last two years, that’s been a reality. I also hope my absence from the road doesn’t end any of the friendships I’ve made from coast to coast. Please, keep in touch!

I love you all and hope only the best for you.

Hawk Nelson Announces New Lead Singer

Hawk Nelson enters a different chapter in the band’s history as they announce their new lead singer Jon Steingard. No stranger to their fans, Steingard has been the guitarist for the past eight years. Hawk Nelson will continue with members Daniel Biro (bass), Justin Benner (drums) and Steingard (guitar, vocals).

“I am blessed to announce that Hawk Nelson will be fronted by none other than the talented Mr. Jonathan A. Steingard,” states co-founder and bassist Daniel Biro. “The chemistry we share as a band cannot be fabricated. In other words, we know we have something special here. We’re very excited to be working on a bunch of new songs for everybody. It’s a new day, and we want to make the most of it.”

“Moving forward, I couldn’t be more excited to step into the role of lead singer,” shares Steingard on his new role.

Hawk Nelson is currently working on writing new music and preparing to introduce the new line-up to their fans. The upcoming music will showcase a fresh direction combined with the signature Hawk Nelson sound their fans love.

“We are knee-deep in writing a new record at the moment, and these are some of the most inspiring songs we’ve ever worked on,” says Steingard. “As a band, we’ve had our fair share of highs and lows, and through it all we’ve become a family. A further blessing has been the incredible amount of support we’ve received, particularly over the past few months of growing pains, from family, friends, other bands, industry folks, and especially the wonderful hawk-listeners that have stuck with us on our journey. The future is bright.”

Former frontman Jason Dunn announced his departure from Hawk Nelson earlier this year to pursue his solo project, Lights Go Down (facebook.com/lightsgodown). Hawk Nelson wishes him the best of luck in his new venture.

This week’s guest is Sambo Moncivaiz, bassist for Reform The Resistance. Formerly Sambo and and his Brother Jason were 2/3 of the band Justified. After loosing their original brother and finding themselves released from their record contract the Moncivaiz brothers changed their name to Reform The Resistance added Nashville drummer Ryan Dugger and drastically changed their sound.
